I Think Ink!
Brad Chin
It appears that adding two more “columns” makes the inkblog entries slightly too wide. Of course, I could change the blog content width — Squarespace’s UI makes such modifications straightforward and zippy — but I don’t like the idea of making my entire blog too wide. Slim and trim is in.
The solution is simple-enough: I’ll make ink entries one column wider than the “pilot” — “Inkblogging Again!” This should keep everything usable and reader-friendly. My newish writing style, after considerable trial and error, comes complete with nigh-flawless, uniform, justified “text alignment” blocking. I know. I’m awesome.
Well, it just wouldn’t be Bradtastic™ if everyone could do it.
FYI — I’m turning my handle into a brand. This amazingly-grandiose venture didn’t start off as my idea — exactly; friends, followers and onlookers of my magic, advice and style would start referring to things as “being Bradtastic…” not inasmuch to say that some-thing “is me,” rather that it is worthy of me — something fantastic. Bradtastic Approved™ was the first result. Why not capitalize?
A brand needs an identity, and luckily, I have that built-in, thank God and my parents!
I’m steadily building a website relaunch plan while simultaneously learning WordPress. I’ve experimented with many blog engines and services — most of the paid services have merits worthy of later-mention, some free ones, too — but I’ve again refined my choice to WordPress or Squarespace. Unfortunately, I don’t know enough about WordPress.
I should mention — perhaps someone could convince me to try TypePad again… but their stock designs aren’t my style — I think they suck. Even if someone were to build me one of my own (and let’s assume that it’s awesome… and pro bono), if I needed to make a simple change to the design, I’d be stuck — frustrated.
I’d rather write what I write, and leave code to coders.
Please check back soon, and if you like what you see, please make some time to read back-entries. You’ll find a few pleasant surprises… unless you don’t like getting gifts and presents. I like presents. You could win something awesome.
For this entry, I’ve stretched Superfluous.
I’ve added six pixels to “content width,” allocating the proper space for this ink entry to fully-display — in all its grandeur! This change is most likely temporary; though the width-increase is negligible, I’ll constantly notice the deviation with a desire to correct it.
Anyhow. I hope you’ve enjoyed ink posts one and two — I spent one-year developing the new style… and I feel like it’s refined each time I put pen to surface (Tablet PC or paper).
